Hopi Ear Candles And Their History

Hopi Ear Candles And Their History

There is no doubting the growing popularity of Hopi Ear Candles as an holistic therapy, but where does this treatment owe its origins? Well not unlike many other forms of holistic treatment the origins of Hopi candles can be found in ancient civilisations and tribal cultures.

There are a variety of civilisations who make claim to the use of candles in their respective societies, from the ancient Greeks who used them for cleansing and purification to the peoples of the Mediterranean and Latin Americans who found more physical applications, and then there was the shaman healers who used them for their spiritual meditation and treatments.

However although it is true that candles have had influences on a number of cultures, the Hopi Ear Candles were actually named after a native pueblo tribe of North American Indians called the Hopi Indians.

The Hopi Indians were and are a peaceful people who are part of the Shoshonean Indian division. Their culture has been preserved much better than tribes that inhabited the land in and around the Rio Grande river. The Hopi Indians are industrious farmers by nature who harvest crops such as maize, beans, fruits and are noted for their craft skills.

Today they still live in small groups of villages in and around North-Eastern Arizona and are known not only for their farming and craft skills, but also for their religion and great knowledge of healing that in recent years has gained respect and approval from the western world. They are responsible for many ceremonies, including that of the snake dance or as it is more commonly known the rain dance considered to be one of the most spectacular of all the Native American Indians ceremonies.

Ear candling forms part of their ancient traditions and healing therapies and was used on both the physical and spiritual levels. Old wall paintings depict the importance placed upon the Hopi ear candle and show how it was used in initiation and healing ceremonies by the five clan of the Hopi people.

The Essence Of Reiki Therapy

The Essence Of Reiki Therapy

Reiki therapy touches the recipient in a variety of ways, from both the physical and spiritual bodies and everything in between. To enjoy the benefits of Reiki neither the recipient or practitioner are required to believe in a spiritual element, and there is no religious beliefs involved in this alternative therapy.

The only requirement of both parties is to be positive in its ability to provide a positive result to the recipients conditions. Negativity towards any treatment of any kind will have a negative result upon what a practitioner is trying to achieve, so having a open mind is paramount to the energy flowing in its most effective manner. It is believed that Reiki therapy as we understand it today had its origins from Japan, and owes everything to Doctor Mikao Usui who rediscovered this healing art form back in the 1920′s.

In its most basic of terms Reiki involves the transference of energy that surrounds us all in order to restore balance in the force surrounding the recipient. Reiki therapy has a number of basic effects, including deep relaxation, detox of the system, increases of the vibration or frequency of the body, provide new vitality in the form of healing energy and removal of negative energy.

In Reiki therapy, the practitioner places their hands on or over the patient, but hands at no time need to be placed in areas of sensitivity. Ideally for the best results the patient should be lying down on a treatment couch where either he or she can feel at complete ease and be ready to welcome in the positive energy.

Reiki therapy commences from the head and then works down the body to the recipients feet. Polarisation exists between Reiki practitioners in the way that Reiki is implemented, the basics are the same, but the method of application is different. On one hand you have practitioners who follow a set routine of hand positions over the main seven chakras, and in the other camp you have practitioners who tend to favour the use of their own intuition to guide them to where the healing is needed. You could say that this group accept the spiritual element of Reiki and hence trust in their own feelings and healing guides to assist in providing the most effective of treatments. Both of these methods are effective and it is down to the choice of the practitioner the way they practice Reiki.

Generally hands will hover some 2 to 4 inches away from the body of the patient. The hands are cupped with the fingers closely bonded together and the thumbs pulled upward against the hand so the positive energy that you possess is directed to the one who needs it. For a Reiki therapy to be effective there is a need for both the practitioner and recipient to be working together. The Reiki practitioner will work hard to send the positive energy the recipients way, but the recipient of the healing must be open to receiving the healing to gain any tangible benefits.

If you seek healing from some one attuned to Reiki, the strength of healing will depend largely upon the level of the practitioner. There are a number of levels and at Reiki one you are taught the basic hand positions and have the knowledge to treat yourself, family and friends but do not have the skill set to open up your own chargeable practice. In level two the practitioner is attuned with three symbols, power, emotional and distance and can set up in practice and provide both in person and distant treatments.

Level three is the Reiki Masters level and the master is attuned to master symbol, the symbol that empowers all other symbols used in Reiki therapy. This allows the Reiki master to provide the equivalent of 1 hours treatment in 15 minutes or so.

Does Reiki therapy carry any risks? Quite simply “no”. The only thing the patient can do is block the positive energy that is being given but this does not cause him or her harm in any way.

Reiki is not about diagnosis its about providing a complimentary therapy to western medicine, so always seek advice from your own main stream Doctor before seeking advice from any complimentary therapist.

Reiki therapy in most cases will not be successful after only one session, unless the condition is a slight one. In most cases a series of treatments are likely to be required and this is due to the prolonged state of most conditions seen by a Reiki practitioner, it will take time to bring back balance to the recipients body. The Reiki practitioner can restore harmony and peace and reduce stress in some ones life so this cannot be underestimated.

If you are interested in becoming a Reiki practitioner in your own right , you will need to sign up for a course offered by a by a certified Reiki Master Teacher. All good Reiki Master Teachers should offer not only training, but a manual and certificate for you to keep. For Level one students following your training you can expect to undergo a 21 day cleansing period before proceeding on to the Level two.

If you dream of stress reduction and want to find ways and methods of relaxation the practice of Reiki may well be what you’ve been looking for. Reiki is what could be best described as a Japanese type of spiritual practice, although it is not tied to any religious beliefs a feeling of spiritual well being cannot be ignored when sampling its benefits.

Outside of the relief of stress it can be used to promote the healing of ones self or of others, it is often characterized as a practice of “laying on of hands”, and yet Reiki can be provided largely without hands touching the body and can also be sent in the form of distance healing, that is the intent for some one to receive its benefits wherever they are.

The healing powers are found through a universal yet unseen “life force energy”that we all possess and are channelled through the body, through a series of chakras that can be cleansed and balanced.. Quite simply if one’s life force energy is low, then there is more likelihood of that person or people getting sick or feel weak. Conversely if the life force is high, it is likely that people will feel healthy and happy.

Reiki is also a form of meditation used as a type of therapy for treating physical, emotional, and mental diseases. The name Reiki is taken from two Japanese characters that describe energy itself. The word “rei”, which means “unseen” or “spiritual” and “ki” which means “energy” or “life force” is combined to become Reiki. In English, its meaning is usually given as “universal life energy”.

Modern day Reiki as its origins due to Mikao Usui who was known to have developed Reiki in the 1920′s in Japan. Having spent many years exploring many religions looking for answers to miraculous stories of healing, Mikao Usui himself received the ability of healing after going through three weeks of fasting and meditating on top of Mount Kurama.

The methods discovered by Mikao Usui are largely the ones that are followed by Practitioners to this very day. Practitioners are able to tap into the Universal Life Energy that flows around us all and channel it through other people for that persons own well being.

Reiki remains a simple and natural form of providing healing and along with it is a safe method of dispensing spiritual healing and self-improvement. Reiki really does not have a barrier of limitations in what it can and cannot treat, “Yes” there are times when an illness will have progressed to points beyond providing an ultimate solution, but where this is the case it can still assist with pain relief and a spiritual assistance and acceptance.

Reiki is not designed to be a treatment in isolation, it should be seen to be as a method that works well when combined with other medical or therapeutic techniques to help relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Previously I mentioned that the practice of Reiki may appear to be spiritual in nature, but to reiterate at no time is it considered to be a religion. There are no set of beliefs that one should learn about before learning to practice the technique known as Reiki. The practice does not depend on any form of religious dogma.

It will work whether the student believes it or not. But it is said that the practice of Reiki helps people to keep in touch of their spiritual selves rather than the intellectual concept that it provides.

The practice of Reiki also aims to develop and promote living in harmony with others. Aside from practising Reiki and its principles, the founder of the Reiki system, Mikao Usui also recommends the practice of simple ethical ideals that can lead to peace and harmony among people.

Getting to know what Reiki is may help people not only become a healing channel but also a tool to promote peace among other people.

Welcome To The World Of Reiki

Welcome To The World Of Reiki

Reiki is a wonderful form of hands on healing, which was “re-discovered” by Dr Mikao Usui in the 1920′s and is made up of two words Rei and Ki meaning Universal Life force energy.

Dr Usui was the starting point of what we see today and before he died he ‘attuned’ many people to the Reiki energy and passed his knowledge through a small minority of people in Japan, before the knowledge eventually expanded to many thousands if not millions across the world today.

The responsibility of the Reiki practitioner is to facilitate the channelling of this wonderful universal life energy through themselves and into the client. The Reiki practitioner has undergone a number of ‘attunment ceremonies’ in order to provide this gift to others. In its simplest terms the practitioner is allowing the clients natural healing system to improve their own health naturally.

Reiki can assist as a complimentary therapy to many ailments of the body, mind and spirit and can completely heal these with the use of Reiki. Unfortunately it is true that more serious conditions may not be healed in the same way, however it can ease the effects of the symptoms and bring a sufferer an inner peace and acceptance of their situation.

Please be aware that a Reiki practitioner should never be seen as your primary care professional for diagnosis purposes, this in the first instance should be the job of the medical practitioner. That is not to underestimate the ability of Reiki, but places Reiki as a secondary and complimentary therapy and not your first primary care solution.
